Oh my God! I know I've just found a new friend! =) Jose Saramago is one of my favorite writers. My favorite book by him is "Blindness". I don't think enough people have read it. or know of him. I love how simple and lyrical his language is. I love the fact that he took a idea like "what would happened if the whole world went blind?" and thought of a realistic situation with real people and made you hold your breath in the end. Are you looking for books similar to the plots of "All the names" and "Blindness" or just good writers? I'm about to start on a book called "I am legend" by Richard Matheson. It's part horror, but I've been told that it is so realistic and so good. It's about a man who is the only living person left in the world that's not infected by this mysterious plague that left most of the world dead and the ones who survived blood thirsty creatures who come out at night. I was told that it's so emotional, the language is simplistic and the plot moves you along to the end.

I actually bought a book by him several years ago about Portugal and I've yet to read it. Maybe I'll do that next.
