Yes! A very good episode dealing with this is on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

There was a man who was Deanna Troi's race and he could read people's minds. He can hear everything and feel all their emotions. He ends up living with an ancient creature (to me like a space whale that is also a ship to go places in space) and with this creature he only gets to hear the one voice. They become as one.

God knew this was too much for people so he didn't give us this gift, mostly.

But I have always had a talent for knowing what people think (at least when I am in the room with them). Call it instinct, intuition, emotional synergy, whatever, I can usually tell and I think in many ways most people can too.

And when I was younger I would try to figure out what this person thought and what that person thought (not the same as reading their emotions when I am in the same room or personal space with them). It nearly drove me crazy.

So with all these things in mind, I can imagine if I knew exactly what folks were thinking it would be terrible. A great burden...

Actually it is a gift and a curse. One gets this ability due to a desire from a previous life. But It can make one crazy for sure. People want so many different mystic powers but they all end in misery. Best to purify the mind by chanting the Maha Mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from all suffering and illusion) most people are in some kind of illusion and this will bring one to their constitutional position. for more info go to harekrishnatemple.c read Bhagavad Gita as it is BY Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada- tells the purpose of human life and how to make the mind blissful.

No, I'm convinced most people have never been trained to think, so they act on a barely conscious level which would mean I'd be stuck with nothing to read.

I would like being able to attend meetings like in Washington D.C. and be able to tell if politicians were telling the truth or not. I'd also like to fulfill people's wishes... but after a while it would get annoying, like a disability.

If I can't control it...yes it would drive me crazy. But if I could control it by only doing it when I want to....that would be cool.
