Are DDR pads universal?

My neice had one for PS1, she no longer uses. Im picking up the new DDR Universe for xbox 360 later, and wondering if I should get the pad too. I see some are sold universal, but this one was bought with the PS1 game.

nope, there is a pad intended for xbox..

There are some that comes with the playstation/xbox/gamecube ports all in one, but most of them are for one system only. Chances are that if she got the game with the ps1 dance game, that mat is a ps1 mat...
