Try to put yourself in the other person's place and feel what he/she is feeling. After you have done that, try to help them. Treat others as you would want them to treat you.
Look out for the interests of others. Be willing to forgive, even when the wrong done to you is serious. This doesn't mean that you condone the wrong or wish the person to not be punished. It does mean that you are willing to now see the good in the person and you will try helping them to not repeat the wrong.

You learn to get compassion by one small act of unselfishness. Once you see how hard it is and how joyful it is to give from yourself and expect nothing in return you are on the path of growing your heart

Your capacity to love will then increase and your ability to be truely happy will be realized.
