No because that's who I am and what defines me as a person. Love you Sweetie

No... never! Caring about someone is a selfless act. If you feel bad, it's only because you actually expected something in return, and didn't get it. When you really care, it has nothing to do with you. If you get nothing in return, or horrible things in return, it won't make a difference. If you still care after that, and expect a different outcome than nothing, or something horrible, then if you get again what you got the first time, then you might feel like an idiot!

Don't appreciate me once, shame on you, don't appreciate me twice, shame on me!

Some times, it doesn't matter how many times a person takes you for granted, you still care about them. Just as long as you've accepted the fact that they don't care about you the same way, or they don't care about themself as much as you seem to. Once you accept these things, you realize you can still give of yourself, no matter what the other person does.

Ex... Your sister takes advantage of you time after time. You babysit her kids again & again. Even though you know she wouldn't extend herself in the same way... come to babysit your kid at your house with hers in the middle of the week on a school night... you still do it for her. You know what her reaction would be if you asked, so you let her be the person not there for you. Is that wrong? No! You care about the kids & understand her position without her saying. You also, don't expect what you give to have to be measured up to by others. This is in part what makes you a good person. You just keep being you, and if you didn't care, or didn't help, you would become a bitter person in holding them to the same standards as yourself.

Which way is the high road?

Yes, several times.
Unfortunately, I'm drawn to people that have pretty serious issues(or maybe they are drawn to me). Since I'm always trying to help everybody I end up in relationships, from time to time, in which I feel like all my efforts are all for nothing.
It's happened a few times in my life.
I have to snap myself out of it & lay it on the line. That's when I let whoever-it-is know that I care, but I can't keep extending myself if it's 'all for not'.

Honey yes. I feel like I care about my man more than he cares for me. I go out of my way and above and beyond to take care of him and do things for him but then I end up feeling stupid because he doesn't seem to appreciate it. But I guess it's better to have love and lost than to not love at all, like they say.

No just frustrated at times. I have a winging neighbour always going on about how bad his life is, always coming to me for advice and never ever takes any notice.

Yeah, Today my crush laughed at me when he found a big ball of trashy hair in the recycle bin. All of my stupid middle schooled class who acted like monkeys laughed at me. Just cause it was the same color of mine and they thought it was mine ( it wasn't by the way) Who's the real victim here?
