would you get a photo cake? or a cutie novelty cake ie- minnie mouse.mermaid,dora d explorer etc...
any ideas? do appreciate it........

As a mother of five, my youngest just turned 1 last month and I made the a small cake for her to dig into. I've realized at 1 your baby could really care less, but liked the idea she could look back and see I made it. If your having a big party I'd get a smaller cake for the baby. One for everyone else. Pick something you think your baby would like.

For my daughter's first birthday I made one in the shape of number 1 but for my first daughters first birthday cake I got a really fantastic cho. cake from asda with smarties and munchies she loved it and still remembers it to this day. My daughters 3rd birthday last week I got dora cake so totally up to you. Home made are best for first thought.

I think the picture cakes are really cute!! We just had a 1st B-Day party for my daughter and I chose a Princess theme she dressed up in a cute little princess dress and I found a really cute hat for her at Claire's that was Princessy with Birthday Girl written on it! Good Luck!!

My neighbor makes cakes and she made my daughter a beautiful pink & silver castle cake for her 1st.
I've also seen people who have a large cake for the party and a smaller version for the baby to dig into.

I made a plain sponge covered with cream and strawberries as I thought it was the safest option as she was only going to get it everywhere and at least it comes out quite easily. It also looked really nice in the photos

At one year old, she's not going to care. She is going to stick her hands in the frosting, smear it all over, stick it in her face, hair, and down her diaper, and toss it all over the floor while saying UH-ohhhhhh! You'd do best to get a cheaper cake you're not going to care about getting trashed.

if she watches kids tv and theres one she relates to get a cake in that form,i did it with my daughter and the look on her face was fantastic!
