Congenital. Everyone is born with the possibility of being gay. For some, this is stronger, so it becomes their life. For some others, they choose this path. For the rest, they choose not to follow this path.

As for proof, prove to me that God is male.

I do not believe that there is any proof on as to whether or not homosexuality is something that you are born with.

I, however, believe that it is something that is aqcuired during life. I do not think it is a conscious choice but rather a subconscious decision influnced by any number of things in your own life. This is why it is idiotic to try to "un-gay" someone. If anything we should just try to be tolerant of the choices that individuals make to satisfy their sexual urges (both physical and psychological).

To Aurorase.
God gave the first man an entire planet to look after, and the smartest mind. All he gave the first woman was a rib, and a husband that was smart enough not to eat the forbidden fruit first.
Therefore, the first stupid thing that was ever done by a human was done by a woman. God knew it was going to happen, he just wanted to give the women a head start on knowing to let men make the important decisions. :)

I was born gay. I was born happy. I was born straight, heterosexual, and ready to get some alone time with a woman's breast.

Homosexual people aren't gay, they are miserable lifeforms of the lowest standard.

People can be born gay. If we can be born with all of these other traits (hemaphrodite, one leg, one arm, Siamese Twins, etc), who says the brain cannot under go the same tampering.

Even the ultra conservative president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary recently said that scientific research "points to some level of biological causation" for homosexuality.

An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same - as yet unidentified - genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation. Mothers of gay men produced an average of 2.7 babies compared with 2.3 born to mothers of straight men. And maternal aunts of gay men had 2.0 babies compared with 1.5 born to the maternal aunts of straight men.

Another study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 examined X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay. Normally, X chromosome inactivation occurs at random: half of the cells in a woman's body will have one X chromosome inactivated, while the other half inactivates the other chromosome. Researchers found that in about a quarter of mothers who had at least two gay sons every single cell in these women inactivated the same X chromosome while only 4 percent of mothers with no gay sons showed this type of extreme skewing.

A Canadian university study published in June of 2006 stated that, although researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, that the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families.

A January 2007 Australian report suggested to be gay you need to receive one gay gene from both parents, and that those with only one gay gene have a selective advantage because they are heterosexual but have increased style, male sex drive, charm and seductiveness towards women.

A study published in the February issue of the journal Endocrinology demonstrates that not only are certain groups of cells different between genders in a part of the sheep brain controlling sexual behavior, but brain anatomy and hormone production may determine whether adult rams prefer other rams over ewes.
........
"Same-sex attraction is widespread across many different species." said Roselli, whose laboratory collaborated with the Department of Animal Sciences at Oregon State University and the USDA Agricultural Research Service's U.S. Sheep Experiment Station in Dubois, Idaho.

Kay Larkin, Ph.D., an OHSU electron microscopist who performed laboratory analysis for the study, said scientists now have a marker that points to whether a ram may prefer other rams over ewes.

"There's a difference in the brain that is correlated with partner preference rather than gender of the animal you're looking at," she said.

About 8 percent of domestic rams display preferences for other males as sexual partners. Scientists don't believe it's related to dominance or flock hierarchy; rather, their typical motor pattern for intercourse is merely directed at rams instead of ewes."

During the course of a psychology class, we learned that gay men have brain wave patterns closely related to females.
This measurement is possible because of MRI's.etc.
This lead me to believe that people are born gay/lesbian.
Besides,as a gay friend told me," why would I choose to put myself through all the abuse I have to deal with."
