any time you get a lay off in alabama you get pennys anyway go to the state of alabama unemployment office do what they say and you will be paid. he can fire ya and not have to pay but layoffs is different
Job Termination Laws
The State of Alabama does not have any termination laws. Federal law
covers such things as discrimination based upon age, race, religion, sex,
national origin, and disabilities and is handled by the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission whose office is in Birmingham (205) 731-0082. For other
questions regarding termination, employees should seek the advice of an
attorney.

The answer is..."it depends". If you work for a company with 50+ employees and you have a qualifying condition, you may be entitled to unpaid leave time under the Family and Medical Leave Act for your own serious illness (this is a Federal law; some states also have laws which augment or supersede the FMLA.)
If you have already consumed all available leave time, or if you work for an employer who is not required to offer family medical leave, then you may be out of luck.

Yes. But if you've been in that job for 12 months or more you could be eligible to return when you are fit to do so, you have to refer to the Family Medical Leave Act. Often when an employee needs to be off for an extended leave there is some type of disability insurance available to you. You will have to check with your employer or their insurance plan administrator.

Unless you have a contract that states otherwise, most likely, you have exceeded the allowed sick days for your company.
Most states have what's called at will employment which means that your employer can fire you at will anytime without a reason. Conversely you can quit at any time without giving a reason or notice.
