I keep having a dream of this basis. It's always happening. It happens like this with a few different variations. When I think of the dream while awake, it's nothing. But while sleeping, It's scarier than Hell itself.

I am in a car traveling, (on a highway; through a city; on one street usually a dead end street) as soon as I look in front, I realize no one is driving the car, it's going by itself. I am always in the back right seat. The car is not reckless, as it makes normal turns and stays a steady speed. I become very scared and to escape the car. I can't. I'm literally trapped. I usually wake up after a while. I had another variation of it in the back of a shopping cart, that was backwards going uphill. I can't escape. Please help me decipher this. Oh, and most of this has something to do with my divorced dad, whether it's going to his house in Maryland, or being around his house, with whom I have a very close relationship with.

You are uncomfortable at the thought of not having free will, either in life or in that situation. Even though destiny hasn't steered you wrong yet. Or you are afraid of losing control of a situation, even though you know everything will be ok.

You are relaxed in an average car ride. Are the kind of person who goes along with the crowd and have not had any negative consquences as a result? Has your life followed a pattern decided by others and you have been blindly comfortable? You are in a car following a road not of you own chossing. Maybe you are scared because you haven't "driven" and have been in the relative safety, (ignorance), and alone in the back seat. Perhaps you are afraid of making decisions alone, and are therefore trapped. Perhaps you fear the next turn in your life and feel powerless to deviate.

ill give it a shot

being in the car traveling means some sort of journey. You look in front and notice that noone is there, which could mean that either you feel you have no one to guide you. Or it could mean that you have freedom you cant seem to exert (driving the car yourself would be freedom and instead your in the back scared of the car driving itsself) alternativley it could mean that you do not feel in controll of where your life is taking you.

PS: about your shopping cart dream: I had the same one! only my dentist was standing at the bottom of the hill laughing as the shopping cart went up the hill with me in it (i wasnt asleep only under laughing gas for having my tooth removed when i was young)

Well, the primary feelings you are identifying are "trapped and out of control." You might also play around with the idea that you are being "taken for a ride" or taken advantage of. Perhaps, the dream is more about how you feel about being out of control than about a particular situation. Does lack of control "drive" you crazy? Just some ideas that popped up. I'm sure you can flesh them out if they make any sense to you.

Stop dreaming and start living. People put so much effort into decyphering their dreams they forget to smell the roses. You are putting so much stress upon yourself that you are going to start presenting with physical symptoms. Relax and live. Put more effort into seeing what is happening in the world out there. Notice the flowers on your way to work, the blue skies, the smells, the sounds. Forget about what happens at night when you are supposed to rest. Concentrate on life - not on what happens when you sleep. It is not a sign of what is to come. What is in the future is of the decisions you make today.

Sounds like you are regretting something or wanting to avoid something. You hate the fact that your dad is divorced and you had no decision in that. You were stuck. Doing what they wanted and trying to get away from it.
