Why did cops in NYC search my bag on the subway for NO reason?

I'm just a young girl minding my own business. Its a new rule/law/whatever of random stop and search in subways and buses.

Subway has thousands of entrances that terrorists can get thru with no detection. Does Bush think manning only a handful of entrances is going to stop a terrorist?

Soon the govt will have the right to stop me anytime anywhere to seach my bag for NO APPARENT REASON. I was just WALKING for godsake! What is this..Communist China?

It seems like what you say is true, however, you do NOT have a right to ride the subway, you have a privilege to ride it. It belongs to government and if you want to ride the darn thing you will have to accept that you might be searched. Just the same as boarding a commercial airliner at an airport.
So, NO, that does NOT make the USA anything like Communist China. BTW, the police can stop you and search you, but if they find contraband, then they must have had "Probable Cause" or the evidence they find is NOT acceptable in court. They might endanger their job by doing such a thing.
I don't agree that the borders are wide open, but they are entirely too open that is for sure. The problem here is that the Democrats want as many illegal aliens as possible in this country because they get more votes from them than the Republicans get. George Bush apparently thinks that he can get more of those votes or at least not lose as many by NOT agressively tending the border. He must think that the Republicans will lose all the hispanic votes if they do such a thing, but I believe the border issue was just as big an issue that cut the Republicans down last year as anything else.

our borders, like some ho's, are wide open. The government should put up a wall and place border patrols to prevent illegals from coming in. Can't do much about the ho's. Some guys need to wash the dog every now and then.

Yes they can. China is actually pretty cool and very civilized. I would live there if I liked the food better. In China at the airports when you have a bottle of water or coke, you can get on the plane but what they do is open it-the bottle and smell it to make sure it is safe. They have been doing this for about 6 years. GEORGE BUSH does not care about our sovereignty nor the fact that Mexico brings our wages down and our taxes up. I voted for him twice but if I bumped into him, I would not give him the time of day.

Due to the London bombings, everyone that gets on the subway has their bags searched. They were going only search middle eastern folks but the ACLU had a cow and said that was discrimination, so they changed it to everybody.

The Canadian border is covered. Your customs people do a good job of watching and checking but remember, most of the terrorists were already in the USA long before Clinton came to office.

Okay I don't know what you're talking about with that border comment but that does not seem fair. All states are different. In Cali, hell no a cop can't search you for no reason but you're in NY. I would not have let him search me, but that's just me.
