because in china they use cats and dogs in their food. I am not totally sure about cats, but there is a specific breed of dog that is specifically bred for the purpose of eating.

Because cat and dog meat really is eaten the way we eat chicken or beef in a lot of Asian countries. I have never heard of Chinese people doing it, but it is common in Vietnam. Where I live we have lots of Chinese restaurants that are actually owned by Vietnamese people, not Chinese people, and some of them have been busted for this before. After that happens, they lose all their business, close up, then reopen under "new management".

Very few Chinese restaurants would use cats and dogs as food. I don't think that any Chinese restaurants in U.S. offer them. And if they do, they are obligated to tell you what you are eating. Don't worry about that! ^_^
Actually it was the Koreans who started having dogs as a part of their food source. And since some Koreans immigrated to northern China, they brought their tradition with them. With regards to eating cats, there is a traditional "dish" in Cantonese cuisine making soup from chicken and cat meat. I only heard of this, but I don't think that it is popular at all...
I've been to many parts of China myself, and I have not seen any restaurants offering cats as food. Some Korean restaurants offered dog meat, though. >_<

well the Chinese eat cats and dogs in some parts of china because of the poverty, but it is not true they serve it in America at Chinese restaurants.

Some people in China do eat cats and dogs in their food. If you go to an authentic Chinese resturaunt, you might find it, but most of them probably don't serve cat and dog.

I don't know if it's true but I know I've seen lots of cats around the dumpsters in back of Chinese restaurants.

Yes it's true. In Cleveland, Ohio where I am from, a couple of resturants were shut down because they were caught with cat and dog meat in them. To this day, I only order dishes made with shrimp to be safe.

Because they eat different animals in their homeland. For instance, cats & dogs. It's just like cattle and pigs over here to us.

They dont in the US, because of heath inspections, but they do in China. In fact the ferrall dog rate is so high in China, the government pays folks to kill them.

I think they got the reputation because they put so much stuff in their food that you don't even know what you're eating.
