Usually how long the backgound check. they got my paper on last thursday and said will take 3-5 business. haven't heard from them yet..should i call...but hr said she will get back to me last thur

I am in HR. I would give them a follow up call. Just say you are just following up on your application. You don't want to say you are following up on your background check, because it will look like you have something you are hiding and waiting to see if it comes up.

depends what kind of background check. If you had to go down and give a finger print for it, it usually takes up to 10 days, but, if it's just a regular background check then she's right, about 5 business days.

Three to five was a short estimate. It depends on the company they are using and what search source they use. Weeks is common, so don't be surprised.

Call each week, more than that is annoying.

Yea...it usually would that that long. GIve it a week and if they didn't call in that time, then you can call them. You can call, but if you call too much, then they'd get annoyed; if you were applying for a job. They'd call you if they found anything worth looking/discussing however.

Yes, it typically takes less than a week unless they run into a problem (verifying foreign education/employment can take longer, for example.)

If they gave you a hard date to get back to you by and they havent, you should give them a call.
