I don't think the father should be able to prevent an abortion. It is the mother who would have to deal with the 9 months of suffering. Therefore, if the father wants a baby, he should wait until the mother is ready for one. It is a woman's right not to have a child if she doesn't want one at that time.

Answer me this - name one complication of pregnancy that would put the father's life at risk?

When one develops then men can have a say in pregnancy rights, until then -- no woman should be forced to place her life on the line at the whim of another.

I am not for abortion, but I am pro-choice. Having had one pregnancy which ended with my husband having to hear "your son is stable and we are trying to save your wife now....." I fully understand how dangerous the "natural" process of child birth can be. When a man has the same risks as the woman then he can have a say.

I would have to ask first what she thought she was doing getting pregnant if she doesn't want a child. An accident? We are well aware that no protection is fool proof and there is a small chance you can still get pregnant. If she is so opposed to having a baby she ought to abstain. And I do think the man at least ought to have input into the decision.

I take it you mean she just doesn't want the child as opposed to a medical condition or rape?

Well to some extent yes, as it is his child, but if the mother just doesn't want to go through the labor and pregnancy then it is her body so it isn't really fair. If the father is willing to take care of the child and the mother only has the problem with going through with raising it then the father should be allowed to keep the child.

In the perfect world it would be equal rights as far as that goes, but we live in the real world, so ultimately, it is always going to be up to the woman, because she is the one that has to carry the child for 9 months, take care of herself, be careful about what she does and eats and eventually go through the pain and risks of child birth. Until science can find a way to change that, I don't ever see men having equal rights to unborn children.

NO! It is her body. It's not like they would be able to have a good relationship with an arguement like that anyways. It would not be fair for a woman to have to have the baby because that is what the man said to do. Think about the other persons shoes.

That is a tough one . I believe under most current legal standards the wife has the ultimate decision because it is her body . I do not think the husband can force the wife legally to give birth to the child.

that would be a fair answer, sway. HOWEVER, is the father going to be sharing in the time of carrying that child to term? is he going to hold it in his uterus and go through the morning sickness, the weight gain, all of that just to keep his baby?

oh wait! he doesnt have a uterus!!! damn, well, that kind of invalidates his rights. he gets the fun of sex and all that. but wants the woman to bear HIS responsibility, what he wants. it doesnt matter what she wants. the women have to bow down to the men and keep their offspring. give me a break.

It should be that way, but it's not. I was told that it's my body, no one can make me do what I don't want to. In my case I wanted to keep my baby, my husband wanted me to abort. I kept her. She is now 8 years old. I don't know if you believe in God or not, but if you do, you may want to persuade her to keep the baby because she is going to have to answer to God for that one. It's the same as murder. Your baby's blood will be on her hands. God Bless you!
