be more specific. is it person or a company? if its a company(like ones that send you things like joke of the day) then text back saying one of these. stop, cancel, end. send them in separate text and that will end them. if its from a person then you might have to block you text capabilities.

If you mean promos and ads; call your service provider and ask to be remove from any promotional list they have (some cell phone companies use text messaging as their private advertising medium, I got mad when I found my own cell company was getting rich sending me that kind of junk; some companies might be selling your number to their partners too). If that doesn't work just tell them to cut the text service.
Some companies let you cut the tex service or be remove from promotional lists but others don't; some times customer service people don't have a clue so ask to everyone.
Soon text message will be as useless as email thanks to this new kind of spamming.

You could change your mobile number to another. Maybe even a previous number. You could also phone your phone company easily for free off your mobile. It is also, these days, a criminal offence to send these type of text messages so you could report the person or number and they would trace it. It used to happen to me a lot so i know how annoying and frustrating it could get at times. It's best to get it sorted.

The cell phone companies won't help you. I discovered this method quite by accident. It will only work for you if you choose not to receive messages at all.
Don't delete the messages. Your phone may hold 30 messages then the server backs up. Once your phone reaches the max., the server can no longer download and charge you for unwanted, spam messages.
This worked for me much to the disagreement of T-Mobile staff who said they couldn't help me and wanted me to delete my old messages.
Three years going and haven't been charged a dime for these spam messages.
