The router only recognizes the first computer to be turned on and then i cannot access the computer through its normalip which should be 192.168.0.1. HELP!!!!!

OK one issue I see is that most routers default IPs are either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
Now if your computer is using that same IP it will not work!.

Turn on DHCP for your computers. Let the router issue an address to them it has DHCP turned on by default and will assign address to your computers. That way you wont have two devices on the network with the same address and you will be in the correct IP range and subnet so you can network and use more than one machine.

You can only have one IP address per device in a network and they all need to be in the same range. 192.168.0.1.or 192.168.1.1 are commonly used as the GATEWAY address (or router address) a comupter can not use that same address it has to use another one like 192.168.0.2 etc etc. DHCP will solve this for you.

Could be the firewall is preventing you from seeing it or going into it.

The computers have to be part of a workgroup or domain with the same name. Did you use Network Wizard to set it up?

Before you set up the workgroup or domain all the nodes have to be turned on, that is all your shared computers, and printers, etc.

Having done that, and you still cannot find the other computer on the network, try dropping your firewall and see if you can find the missing node then.

I would change your network from the default 192.168.0.1 also.

Good luck.

Check to see if there is updated firmware for your router, try doing a reset and configure it again, check all the ethernet cabling to the machines and check to be sure that the NIC is working on the pc that does not connect.
