What everyone should do is abandon both of these outmoded corrupt parties in favor of independent thinking without the big corporate money and persuasion.
Both of these parties have their own agendas which are harming the US and the rest of the world. For the last five elections we have had to choose between the worst of the candidates because all of the money and influence was in the hands of the major political parties.
Think about it, the White house has been occupied by two families since 1984 (24 years!) and the Democrats are offering us at least four more years of that. The Republican Party is offering us John McCain or Rudy Giuliani.... AAAAAAAARGHHHHHHH.
Please for the love of America, get us someone that has a fresh perspective on things.

You can be a non-partisan, and then vote into office who you want. Check the candidates position on issues that you feel are relevant to you and vote accordingly. I am a a republican only because I feel that about 75%-80% of their issues are in alignment with my ideals. However, the democrats have some valid points on certain issues in my opnion. Politicians are politicians, so you have to consider that as a factor between parties. There have been some fantastic democrat presidents and some fantastic republican presidents. It depends on the person. Really, I'm waiting to see who are the new candidates. More than anyone I would like to see McCain (R) in office, because he understands the consequences of combat more than anyone else (P.O.W. in Vietnam). Also, he seems to be more moderate.

Why are you asking other people's opinions on why you should switch parties? Don't you have a mind of your own? If so, then you should use your own judgements and go with the party that best represents you, not what someone else thinks.

Personally, I think you should vote for whomever most closely matches your beliefs. You may have liberal views on some issues and conservative on others. Even if the majority of your beliefs coincide with a certain party, I believe it is best to judge on a case by case basis.

I am a democrat, but i didn't choose from somebody telling me what is and isn't right. I researched and kept up with the research, as parties tend to change. Choose what you think is right. People will tell you some lies (or rumors) to get you to come to their side. That is not fair. BUT just for a heads up most people on THIS website are republican.

Do you really want ppl you don't even know telling you what to be. Read newspapers (different ones to get a varity of opinions) and watch different news channels. Talk to ppl in your community. Get involved in your community. And most of all, allways be open.

Good luck!

Peace.

Why are you asking us? You have to decide what you agree with yourself and no one can do that for you...try researching the views of both sides...and why not look into some of the smaller parties like libertarian?

Vote what is in your heart, regardless of party. Bottom line, the only time your party REALLY matters is for the sake of the primaries.

If you're going to vote for parties, vote Green or Independent. The better thing to do is to vote the candidate, not the party.
