What does the i stand for when you are setting up punnet squares for blood types,

You would write blood type O like this
io
(except the o is in the corner at the top of the i)

The i represents the recessive allele. O is recessive to both A and B.

IA indicates A, the I showing that A is a dominant allele.
IA indicates B, the I showing that B is a dominant allele.
A and B are codominant.

I'm not sure what it stands for, it's just the allele. Type O blood is actually represented as two lowercase i's (ii). Type A: IAi or IAIA, Type B: IBi or IBIB, Type AB: IAIB

(where the A's and B's are superscript)

The I stands for the allele that contains the gene for A or B.

Tried to research. Couldn't find anything. Call a blood bank and ask.
