As a Chinese that live in Beijing, I will say that China will one day become a Democratic nation. But things like this takes time, it can't just happend over night.
First of all, we need to improve our eduction, if the people are not smart enough, who know what leaders they may choses? Second of all, the nation will need to have a powerful economy. It needs the power to withstand the sit of goverment change.
And just as a footnote, China is no longer under a planned economy, we changed to a free market economy for almost 20 years now. The people are free to choses what job do they want and what do they want to buy. It is just sad to see SOME users kept on unwilling to listen. They should come to China and see things for them selfs, China is a safe country, you will be welcome by us and treated with respect. So please don't just setting in your homes, and unwilling to listen.

The economic equipment of China is SOCIALIST and has been that way sine 1949. What "chicken" suggested is partly appropriate because it became into greater socialistic below Chairman Mao Tse Tung together as the reforms have been/are slower below the present management. Socialism is the transitional section between Capitalism (of sunlight Yat Sen and later Chiang Kai Shek nationalist "Kuomintang" occasion in China) and communism. China is ruled by using a communist occasion (people who belong to a political occasion whose objective is to be helpful in a communist economic equipment at some distant time interior the destiny).

I think that it will happen there, just slowly and not via some huge revolution....it will just take time. I think it will occur with more and more business bringing money into the country. I was just in China in Aug/Sept. and it's not as bad as you'd think....there are some poor people there, but not everyone is living in squalor. They have a long way to go, but just with the little bit of non-gov't owned business they have so far, it's really changing things. It's hard for ANY gov't to manage such a massive amount of people. I think someday we will see them with a more democratic leadership situation.

Your question is confusing in that you use both "D" AND "d" in "democratic". In some ways China is NOW more fiercely CAPITALIST than the USA.... "to get rich is glorious" is the "party line", but there is a minimal floor that exists with things like health care more than the USA. The USA has become MUCH more AUTHORITARIAN with the installation of Dictator Dumbya in 2000 and 2004 shamlections, still not quite as much as in China. So it is a mixed bag, as one would expect, as each tries to solve problems they perceive.
As an American patriot, I DEPLORE the US authoritarian trend and the shredding of the US Constitution by the Dumbya Coup. I expect better things here.

Well their people would demand better wages and in the short term we would suffer a loss because we would have to give up our manufacturing slaves because it would no longer be worth moving jobs over their and we would have hire Americans again to make our stuff and that would be good for the people but bad for the profiteers. Basically all it would do is turn some billionaires into millionaires again.

I think with democracy comes a free economy, with a free economy comes economic success.

If China where to become a democracy they would definetly knock us off the top spot in a matter of time.

Of course that would weaken there economy. Chinese people don't really get to choose where they work or what they do. Their wages are abysmal as well. Sweat shops are very prevalent in and around China. In a democracy, you get to choose where you work and are wages are regulated to be fair to everyone.

It will never happen without a revolution. And a revolution won't happen since 900 million poor peasants in China have no weapons.

Most people who visit China don't see the real China. Most people live in rural areas with no running water, no toilets, no windows, and in homes with dirt floors. Those people are getting fed up with people in big cities living like kings. Many rich people in China give away tens of thousands of dollars to guests at their large private parties.

China is a totalitarian oligarchy. The last leader of China(Zhang Zemin) was discovered to millions and millions in Swiss bank accounts.
