Quick question. I was supposed to start my first round of IUI this month but they put it off a month because there was a cyst on my left ovary. So dissapointing. They said that i should come in at the end of the month when i get my period so they can do an U/S to see if it has dissapeared. If not, they will have to aspirate it. That just sounds painful!!! Can anyone give me some advice or information? Will it hurt, and how is it performed? Thanks so much!

I've never heard it called "aspirate" it. I've had trouble with ovarian cysts many, many times for the last 12 years and have been through four surgeries for it. In my case, basically I either had extremely large cysts, or I had many, many small and painful cysts. The doctor would perform laproscopic surgery through my belly button to zap them with a laser. It was performed as an outpatient surgery and I usually tried to have it done on a Friday so that I could recup on the weekend and go back to school/ work Monday. My tummy and abdomen were sore, but I wouldn't consider it extremely painful or anything. Just sore like something inside was bruised. Cysts usually correlate with periods so I hope that it will go away for you and can proceed as planned. If you have to go for surgery or have any other questions on this, please feel free to drop me an e-mail.

Not sure if it hurts or not. But I would talk with them to see if birth control would help first. My sister took them and it cleared hers up.

Good-Luck :)
