help!!! how can i learn to read in positions??? on the violin??

im sooo confused......i fail every lesson i have that involves postions because i just can't figure out which fingers goes down on wat string.....
any answers would be greatly appreaciated

what exactly do you mean by positions?

like 2nd position, 3rd position, etc...?
