the one that goes over the ankle? or the one that goes below the ankle?

Over the ankle are ALWAYS better.

Hi-Tops (over the ankle) give you more support if you're gonna be playing sports or stuff like that, but Oxfords (below the ankle) aren't as great for running around in, but otherwise, just as good.
They both feel the same, but don't expect alot of comfort (like Nike's or other sneakers)when you wear them all day.

The one thats goes over the ankle is better but it also depend on he kind of outfit your wearing. Because wearing jeans is good with the high tops.

The High Tops(as they are known in the Converse or teenage world) are better in my opinion because they are versatile. You can roll them down, or you can wear them with shorts and it adds for a really neat look. I have both High Tops and Low Tops and I prefer High Tops. Black is also a good color especially for a converse beginner because it matches everything you wear.

Both are very cool:) I personally prefere the high tops,because they look great with jeans and are unique. The lower converse are a little more versitle,however.
It's up to you of course! Just consider:
What will you wear the shoes for? (ie sports,school,...)
What are you must likely to wear then with ?(high tops may look weird with leggings,etc.)
Which do you think are the most comfortable/cool?
Answering those questions may help you decide which style.

depends with pants high tops, with shorts low ones.
