i live in new york and we say pop . so did it spread to toehr states so if i asked for pop in utah would they know what im talking about . what do you say .

I live in Utah in fact use to work at an grocery store and would ask people do you want you pop in a bag, or would you like it out. A co-worker from Texas though that it was weired that i say pop instead of soda pop. So yes i would know what you are talking about when you say pop.

well down south from what i know we say soda or coke
doesn't matter if it's a sprite.. we call it a coke..
waiters/waitresses with ask what kind of coke do you want.
when i lived in Illinois they all said pop or soda..
they would probably know what pop is in Utah because i mean it's just a slang term, not a foreign language but I'd stick to saying soda if i were you

My kids call my Grandfather Pop and we call soda pop soft drinks here in Australia.

I know the southeastern says pop but i never heard it anywhere else
here we say drink or soda but my family calls it a soda pop

I hope not. I lived in Massachusetts growing up and when we would visit, it drove me nuts to hear SODA called "Pop". I live in NY now and still don't refer to it that way.

Friend from CT. asked for So-der and the clerk didn't know what he was talking about.

I was raised in W.V, we say pop. I'm moved to Texas and they call it soda,I can't break the habit so it's always going to be pop to me.
