Business number?

Do all invoices have a business number? Do they have to? If so, how do I get one. I just want to invoice myself from my renovating company for the work I did on my own home so I can submit the invoices to the bank.

What do you mean "business number?" Are you talking about an invoice number, a Federal Employer Identification number (EIN), or something else?

If you mean the EIN, you can simply use your social security number. If you mean an invoice number, it's not necessary, but you can simply use the date ... 20070315 (march 15, 2007)
