My soon to be husband was just offered a new job at the University where he is getting his master's degree. He is a Zoology major and is in charge of 25 small ponds where his research fish live? His boss just said that he would purchase a trailer to live in on the property near the ponds and we would not have to pay rent or utilities. The only problem is that I don't know if I can handle living in a trailer? What is your opinion?

Like everything in life. It is what you make it.

Trailers are typically smaller then houses, some are not.
Some trailer are nicer then houses.
Some "campers" are nicer then trailers and nicer then hoses.

It all depends on what it is and what you want.

If you're stuck on the word "trailer" then you'll never like it.

If you like the trailer, take advantage of it. It sounds like a great way to save some money to get what you really want.

I guess I don't know why you couldn't handle living in a trailer. We live in one and I would give anything to have it parked next to some ponds but I guess I am just old fashioned. The only thing you have to handle is the space, which is limited, but if it is just you two you should be able to handle it. I don't see what would be gross about it unless you don't clean or something.

No, it can be great!
I spent 2 1/2 years in a trailer in the New Mexico mountains. The home had a wood stove, a garden tub, a view to die for and it was decorated in beautiful Southwestern colors.
Please go and look at what is available before you make up your mind.
You won't believe how different "modular homes" are now from what they were 20 years ago.
Good luck.

my being from "trailor trash" not really but I did live in a trailor park for about 5 years with my parents.

it was pretty cool after I got used to it coming from a 4 bedroom house and all.

is it a single or double. at long as there is good working heat and plumbing I think you can make the trailor into a nice little home. it can be very comfortable.

is can be scarry when you get high winds cause the metal sides make noise and it feels like your gonna fly away. but you get used to it, its fun.

I say go for it. some nice curtains, a pretty rug in the living room, a comfy bed and great towels, you won't even notice the dif after awhile.

It depends on what type a trailer he's purchasing. I've seen some really nice trailers that looked better then most single family homes.
