While you're waiting for MS to fix the Vista problems. Get UBUNTU (or XUBUNTU if your computer has less than 256MB of RAM).
It's a free, reliable and up to date operating system.
You can explore it from the "LIVE CD".
It's easy to install and use. You can dual boot it with other operating systems.
Once you have it installed, you gain access to thousands of free programs created by the open source community. There is excellent support - see the WIKI starter guide, and the Linux forums.
Always back up your data before making changes to your computer.

The best time would be Never. Not quite so good would be in two years, but the worst time is now.
Windows has huge security holes, compatability issues, and problems that 5 out of 6 users wish they would not have gotten Vista.
Instead, get a good open source secure opertaing system, such as Kubuntu for free at www.kubuntu.org.

Wait about a year. There are lots of applications and hardware that simply aren't compatible right now. I have heard Vista is slower in general when compared to XP.

first u have to find out if ur computer is compatible with vista... than only u can upgrade to vista...

Hi!
It's not a question of when, but if you even want to. From what I've heard about it, it has many problems still, and is not user friendly. I am staying with XP.
