Peugeot and Citroën are both part of the same group - PSA.
Their cars are now built on the same platforms, in the same factories, and use the same mechanical and electrical components - basically all the bits you can see inside and outside are different, but most of the bits you can't see are the same.
The two brands have slightly different target audiences, with Peugeot being slightly more conservative while Citroën is slightly more avant-garde. High-performance engines tend to appear first in Peugeot models, while new technology features will appear first in Citroën models.

Peugeot make the best diesel engines in the world, or used to until Honda started. Sadly they put them in really unreliable cars, badged as both Peugeots and Citroens. If you want good diesels and reliable and affordable go for Skodas or Seats, as the VW Group diesels have caught up with Peugeot and their cars are better built and more stylish.

They are both part of the PSA group. A bit like how VW, Audi and Seat all part of the same group.
Most of the cars in the same class are essentially the same with a restyled body. eg C1 &107, C3 & 207, C5 & 407.
Personally having worked at a couple of citroen dealerships I would rather buy something else, but then I don't thinkPeugeot or even Renault for that matter are any better.
Must be a France thing!!

Citroen and Peugeot are differenct companies, but they both use peugeot engines, (french eh..) you're better going with a manufacturer from a country that doesnt spend most of their time on strike, I'd recommend German or Japanese. Isuzu make pretty bulletproof diesels, as do VW and Merc.

They are the same engines. You like Peugeots, but in France Citroen have the edge.
