Desitin overnight. Also, if the rash gets really bad, ask your doc for a prescription strength mixture dubbed Butt Paste -- not just the OTC stuff in the store. It cleared up my son's AWFUL rash in just two days. Good luck!

Air and Desitin. I've always relied on Desitin for my children's diaper rash and it's always worked well for us, besides, maybe I'm an odd duck, but I like the smell of Desitin.

Oh, and air? Just your regular, everyday, free for everybody air. Whenever my babies have had diaper rash I make sure they have some "naked baby" time. The air will help the rash to heal and not having anything rub against the rash helps ease any pain the baby may be having.

The best thing for diaper rash is to use olive oil and corn starch.. The olive oil puts a protective barrier on the babies skin and the corn starch makes the urine run off and go into the diaper. It also clears up a rash in 24 hrs. and the baby will love it! Oh and of course it's all natural!!

My son had EXTREMELY sensitive skin during his first year and often needed prescription ointment, it was then that I developed my remedy for diaper rash. During the day, GOB on original A&D because this will protect the skin from further irritation. Then, at night, use Desitin ( I prefer creamy, but it doesn't really matter). This will help get rid of the rash. Also, if the rash is very red, hard to get rid of, and spotty, you can add Lotrimin to the Desitin and that will often help.

Being that my children are 6 and 8, I've tried many baby care products the last few years. Last year I discovered Arbonne and fell in love with their products. Arbonne has a great baby care line (hair and body wash, body lotion, diaper rash cream, sunscreen, and body oil) that is botanically-based and pH correct, pediatrician and dermatologist tested, non-sensitizing, non-irritating, and formulated without nut oils. Their diaper rash cream is formulated with oat flour which is an emollient and an emulsifier. It’s highly absorbent and hypoallergenic. Oat flour helps to soothe and soften dry, itchy and sensitive skin.

Many baby care products contain mineral oil, the molecular structure of which is too large to penetrate the pores of our skin, sitting on the top layer like saran wrap. These products get wiped off over time and give little to no benefit but rather a temporary feeling of softness. You need a water based product that will penetrate your baby's skin and deeply condition and hydrate with the proper ingredients.

sudocrem is the best by far. when my step son would go to his mothers house he would come home with diaper rash so bad it was bleeding and he couldnt walk. as soon as i put it on him you could see that the pain was releaved and the next morning it was almost all cleared up. now with my daughter i use it when she is teething and is even just starting to get a rash and it helps. it also works on other skin rashes and relives the itch.

I have tried lots of things, but A & D ointment has worked the best. My little boy is now three years old, and we still use A & D all the time on scrapes, etc.

Breastmilk. Squirt some on and let air dry. It has healing properties and will work on diaper rashes, ear infections and eye infections... even small cuts! :)

ETA: yes, air... i let my son go diaperless for a little while after his first poopie everyday. just as a preventative thing.

Aquaphor! It is wonderful and is also helping with my daughter’s eczema. DD had terrible rashes - even needed prescription creams because she got so raw (poor girl). Once we went to Aquaphor she still had rashes, but did not need a prescription.
