metals are good conductors because of the loosely held electrons held by metallic bonds, in a metallic bond, the nucleus is bonded to the valence electron, in a metal, that is not very strong, and when it is struck by another electron, the original flies off, starting a chain reaction of electrons in a flow that is electricity.
