if you watch the original film its bad but that’s just because of special effect weren't available to them. I mean planning to attack for a millions years there’s loads of problems with that. why didn’t they take earth a million years ago, didn't any of the study earth before going in that time. also look at our technology a 100 years ago. surely it would be the same with the aliens. Stephen Spielberg makes some bad films.

Was pretty good as a film and the effects were amazing. I couldn't help but imagine those tripods in my town & street.

The problem is I love the musical version & had to bite my lip in the cinema to stop me bursting into song!

You could look at it like some Christian fundamentalists interpret the creation of the earth and the heavens. "Who knows how long *a day* is to God?"
Maybe a million years, to these aliens, was like just last Friday!

Why'd they wait? It's like when you plant a garden. You don't eat the first sprig that pops up. You let it grow! They were waiting for the population of humankind to be large enough to be worth their while!

What's 100 years (technology-wise) to aliens that could wait out 1 million years?

I thought the movie kicked butt!

The aliens were lazy bastards, they didn't want to start the invasion so they waited until the last minute for their clock radios to go off to tell them to start taking over the world.

I thought it was a terrific film, even Tom Cruise was good in it. It was much better than the similar Independence Day, that was dumb nonsense.

It sucked. It had Tom Cruise in it.
They made a big thing about him being a crane driver and then when he got inside a fighting machine they didn't do anything with that.
I'm going to see the Musical Version Live in December. I'm very excited.

The new war of the Worlds is not a patch on the old one. The new one has a poor story line compared to the first, it's not faithful to the book.

well i saw the newer one and it was okay..i dont like Tom Cruise so that made it bad but everything else was interesting...the ending and how they beat the aliens was really cool and creative......and some of the parts were really tense and dramtic.....some cool effects too...overall i would give it a 8/10....

It was barely OK. The basement scene with Tim Robbins kept it from sucking. As far as logic, who are we to impose our logic on an alien intelligence?

nearly all films are far fetched, war of the worlds was crazy but it still kept me on the edge of my seat. films would be pretty dire if there was no madness to them
