Actually, she is the only one who can do anything. She needs to tell her Dad how
she feels and if he still gives her a bad time, then she needs to consider the
source and start working on her weight. I'm sure that you will be a big support to
her. She needs to do this for herself not because of what her Dad says.

Your friend needs to decide that she wants to do something, not you. But you should be there to support her and encourage her. Instead of spending a lot of time where there is food, suggest you guys go outside, take a walk, walk in the neighborhood, the park, go to the zoo, ask her if she wants to join a club with you (like a reading club at the local library or book store, or an athletic club (volleyball is a lot of fun), or volunteer at the local animal shelter. Your friend is using food to deal with her feelings toward her father. If you can get her to a counselor that could help her also. Can she talk to her mom about the issues with her father and the mother could talk to the father? Good luck and God Bless you for being such a good friend.

Has she asked you for your help, or do you want to know what you can do to support her? If she has asked for your help then know what she really wants is your support. You must let her know that no matter what, you will be there for her. If you are close you won't mention her weight but you may ask her to go for walks with you, and/or invite her to become involved in activities that are not food related. And don't give diet advice unless she asks for it. A person who is overweight must make the life saving decision to lose the weight for themselves, you cannot make that choice for them. To have a friend you must truly be a friend.

She should tell her father how he makes her feel.Men are stupid,he probably doesn't realize he's hurting her. If you really want to help, try giving her some low-fat recipes or asking her to go for a walk with you.Suggest councelling for her and her father.
