i would go with two 160gb drives reason being you can install your operating system (vista, xp,....) on one and keep your files on another incase you need to reformat or reinstall your OS. You can also get a special program that will backup all your information from one to another to add more protection to your comp. I think PC Angel is one of the programs that do that. Hope I helped.

I'd say 2x 160gb.
Couple reasons
1-If your main drive gets fried, you still have a backup with which you could change the jumpers, use as master, and install windows
2- When you install programs and things you would install them in the master (the one with windows) and it makes registry values and stuff, on the other one you can just keep it with folders for storage
3- If you download stuff, download it to the slave drive, and then do a virus scan on the whole drive... it'll help keep viruses away from your operating system.

Two identical drives.
You can put them into a small raid setup, (Mirroring or striped for instance). This will help to either keep data safe, or to make data access faster, respectively.
You could also keep all data and applications on the second drive, so that in case of Operating systems problems, re-installing the Op Sys on the primary drive won't destroy your data.

Get 1 320GB
This leaves you the option to add another internal drive later.
Also I would spend $69 and get a 250 GB backup
Beyond Micro / Mobile / 250GB / 7200 / 8MB / USB 2.0 / External Hard Drive $69 after rebate

I would prefer two identical drives so that I can have duplicate copies of critical files in the event of a disk crash. However, two drives gives you twice as many possibilities for disk crashes and twice as much repair expense.

id gow ith twin 160 if thoswe are your only options, because then if one hard drive gets a virus or frys or sometihng of that nature your second might be fine. on the other hand if you can get twin 320 500 or 750 get those instead. of course who really needs a terabyte thesedays? (me)

If you get 2 identical harddrives you could stripe them so they would work in sync therefore making your computer run faster when getting data.
