Sometimes its stress that causes your period to delay. What test did you take? These normal pregnancy tests at the drug store? Sometimes they turn out negative, you might wanna take a blood test or use your very first pee in the morning when using those pregancy tests from the drug store. When you are pregnant, your morning pee is very good for tests...

I just recently went through this...I have always been regular except when I was pregnant. I went to my Dr and found out that is quite common to actually miss a period which I did...It showed up on time the next month.

Thyroid conditions
Cysts
Cycle decided to change
Stress
Weight Loss/Gain (could be sign of thyroid problem, too)
Age (teens tend to have odd periods, when who are close to menopause can, too)
Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (my period was up to 3 wks late with this one then I bled like I did after birth!!)
I'm sure there's more I can think of- you could possibly still be pregnant if you test too soon or don't have a very high hcg level...

Stress is number 1. If you changed your diet or work out habits can also have something to do with it. Take a HPT after a late period to make certain.

other causes of periods stopping include stress, losing weight, exercising too much (long distance runners etc), and hormone problems. As a rule, it is best to see a doctor if your periods stop for several months without explanation.

a significant weight loss, or a lot of working out. when i was jogging 2 miles every night and doing 200 crunches a night, i lost 20 pounds in like 2 months and my periods became shorter and shorter, like 1 or 2 days short. it was great.
