Obviously the company cannot say anything bad, but it looks a little suspicious when you cannot work in your field anymore.

If possible, have someone in an HR capacity call your former employer. This way your check can be done in a professional manner and you can get your answers legitimately. Otherwise your credibility is shot. Also, my guess is that it is not what is being said, but rather how it is being said.

Former employers have a way with tone and attitude when these questions come up.......

I heard that before, but not sure that I buy into it. A company would have to be really stupid to have or create that type of list. If a company had a blacklist, it would play into some serious legal liabilities.

My guess, you may have offended someone, sometime in your work. Now the rumor mill is working. Some supervisor tells a worker about how he didn't like you and then the worker mentions it in the local pub that the company has blacklisted you.

Answer to your question; is to do some covert snooping, make sure you always have a tape recorder and a camera handy. But remember, if no one likes you, they won't talk to you!

I'm sorry to hear that. One thing you could try is have a friend call your former employer (pretending they are a potential employer) and ask for a reference and see what is said.

If you can't get back into your field, you may try starting your own business. My husband and I have an online/offline retail business that might work for you. I can't give you details here since it's against the rules of this site but send me an email if you'd like more information.

Right, it is against the law to say anything bad. How you figure out if you have been black listed is unknown.

The only way to know would be to have access to the "list"; and if'n your on it, then you DON'T have access to it.
