some people believe it and have a concern for those that come after us.

Several reasons.
Ethical point - Who gave us the right to decide when civilization should end? Global warming has the potential to make our planet uninhabitable. This is far more important than saving endangered animals, as they would probably also die when our planet becomes uninhabitable. The goal of our current awareness is to cut down the wear in the hopes of slowing down the decay, to buy time to find a way to reverse the damage. We may be stupid and intent on killing each other, but we're not crazy enough to kill ourselves. Global warming is the sure way to kill ourselves.
Economical point - Global warming brings warmer climates along with other drastic changes. We're seeing a rise of the oceans, stronger hurricanes and other destructive weather phenomenon. This, on top of the immediate lost of lives, costs property damage. Hurricanes and tornadoes increasing in strength, size and number of appearances due to global warming means we are responsible. It's no different than some of us randomly chucking grenades into trailor homes. We'd like to stop that rather than let it keep going, or get worse. Insurance companies are probably throwing a fit from Katrina and it'll probably only get worse. And in order for them to pay off all the victims, they'll probably have to raise rates. And in the future, they may just make it uninsurable if you live in these disaster 'hotspots'.
Scientific point - We only just began to realize that it is more than probably we're contributing to global warming. Now assuming there wasn't a cover up by the government by keeping scientists quiet about this issue for years, this shows how little we really understand about global warming. What's going to happen if the average temperature world wide increased by a few degrees? We have no way of knowing. Sure, there might be warmer winters, but how will the climate change effect weather, wild life, plants and life in general in our delicate ecosystem? We don't know. For all we know, we may be only 5 degrees away from Armageddon.

Some of us are thinking about future generations and not just our own comforts. So fine you are not going to be here in 100 years but what about the other inhabitants of Earth? Also, what about the animals and plants on this planet, we are destroying it for them as well.
If you have a new home and saw it deteriorating year after year with no real repairs done how would that make you feel? The Earth is all of our home!

Yeah, enjoy global warming before these crazy people take this wonderful phenomenon away!
(actually there's no evidence for it, but I would sure like to have it)
global cooling is scarier than global warming.

sure you could enjoy it whilst it lasts, but don't you think we on the earth could make it last so much longer if we cared about that stuff and try to cut back ourselves? then the next generation could "enjoy it whilst it lasts" and hopefully that would be a long time

Yup! You have the same basic opinion as all persons on this planet! Wouldn't it be a dirty trick if we all stopped dying of old age and simply lived on to drown in our own mess and fully screw this planet.

Suppose that "while it lasts" is only five years? What will you say to your children then, when they are shivering in the dark?
