I love flowers, grow many and sell for .10 each. It is amazing, I have been doing this for 12 years, on a card table out front, with money jar. So so so many people over the years of all ages and shapes and sizes love flowers. I'm not sure (except for allergies) I've found anyone who doesn't love flowers, I mean any age group, race, gender etc. I once read "flowers touch the soul" What have you heard or read or experienced. They are like magic in some way. If you do like them ,what do they do for you ? My best compliment came one year I was out front weeding and a 15 year old skate border, very "teen" looking said as he went by and even without looking at me "Nice flowers you've got here" Teens often avoid over 40's and dirty ol' flower ladies but they touched him. I have many apartment dwellers near me who have had to give up their gardens and love to just walk by & enjoy. It blesses them somehow. I tell them, don't thank me, thank God, He created them, I just nurture them

I knew philosophy was the best place 2 ask this, ur answers bring tears 2 my eyes from emotionally sharing ur responses . & I LOVE spiders, bees, snakes, lizards & all that 2. Yes I sell them f4 .10 because it is like a ministry, Over 12 years of this, I could write a volume of books on the people I've met & friendships I've made. I think my favorite is 2 kids about 4 and 7 were walking to our neighborhood market with a quarter each. The little one begged the 7 year old to come by 2 flowers instead of candy !!!!!!!! They didn't know I was watching or listening, but that says a lot. Most of the kids buy them 4 their moms & will go home and rob their piggy bank of pennies 2 buy mom a flower. I'm a lover of people who have "simple hearts" , which almost all chidren have & some adults. Flower Lady, the little ones point from across the street when walking with thier moms & say (as if I was Santa Claus) in awe, look mom, there's the Flower Lady !!! My heart leaps with secret joy :)

What a beautiful experience you described. Thank you for sharing. I'm sure you enjoy being called "The Flower Lady." This expresses so well, how easily we can contribute to the lives of other people, & it's like a bright stream that flows between you. "Love is" also shared, & it's so important to be aware of the happiness that can be given to th "elderly" who (mostly) have such solitary lives. How serendipitous that I saw this question; this morning I received an email from a friends FILLED with absolutely glorious tulips. He doesn't even know they're my favorurite. The shapes of them are seductive, the colours almost infinite. When I lived in Mill Valley just below Mt. Tam, I had two decks with so many flowers it was diffciult to get in the door, & I enjoyed it when people would stop on the street & point up, & smile. As for why they make people happy, I must refer to the answer of jason h: the heart blossoms like a flower, beautiful & delicate, transient. I believe that says it all, & most poetically.

Hello Wendy,

I loved to read your question!!! Flowers can be indeed like magic. I did the same when my son was a baby and we lived for 2 years besides an old peoples home from the red cross and many of their rooms where so that they could look directly from their rooms onto our garden. This is why I put lots of flowers there. Also on the fence. The old people would walk pass and stop and I made lots of contact. Then the director of this old peoples home asked me one day if I could not come to visit some of this old people who are depressed and lonely and who needed to stay in bed all day. And so I took my baby son and some flowers and visited them and this became then a regular thing and it enriched my life and I believe also the old peoples life.
I love what you do, and I can assure you this will make a huge different to many peoples lifes. I am really happy to hear that some people do that.
For myself I have this love for "white lilys". They wake up in me some memory or some emotion. Sometimes I even daydream that I go into a garden with beautiful white lilys and there are also red roses. But this white lilys they have it in for me. I have also paintings in my house of white lilys.
So enough talk in the morning, have go to work now.
Bless your work you are doing. How beautiful!!

How can we not like flowers? They come in a rainbow of colors and are delicate and no two are the same either. Between scent and color and the idea that they are here today and gone tomorrow we have to appreciate them. I especially love a well planned garden but I also love to arrange them in vases. This is the most relaxing thing to do and there is no limit to the arrangements you can do. If you are artistic then an array of flowers is unlimited fun and relaxation.
I think every time I see a flower it is a message from up above saying HE still loves us all and WILL keep performing his miracles.

The remarkable thing (or one of them, anyway) about flowers is that they are temporary. Their beauty is innate but the fact that they do not last makes them all the more exotic and precious. I find that I appreciate flowers and crystals for very opposite reasons. Crystals attract me in that they are very permanent and old. If such a thing as cellular memory exists, I often wonder what some crystals have existed through. Flowers attract me in that they are caught in such a brief lifecycle and still cause joy, sustenance and emotion despite so brief a life. Flowers remind me that lifespan and joy have little to do with each other.

i do no longer think something I study on the internet till I hear it come out of the mouth of the comparable individual. yet did this extremely take place? so some distance as Trish being sour? maximum WWE in the back of the curtain officers & interviewers say she replaced into the least conceited diva, perhaps she had her era that day? Who knows of. Kevin Kelly has long been called a sour douche bag in the employer. so some distance as i'm in touch he has claimed that Trish, Lita, Ivory, Jackie, Chyna, Sable, Sunny & even Molly (WTF!) have slept with somebody in the biz. i've got no longer head the different in the back of the curtain WWE officers or wrestlers declare that approximately Trish after she left. Sorry can no longer have self assurance that one. The Diva conflict-Royal at WM XXV replaced right into a shaggy dog tale. A f*cking shaggy dog tale, and Trish knew it does not get the attention it deserved. She did herself a prefer by no longer attending. Hell, no longer even 24 hours later, many of the divas who have been in the journey have been badmouthing the way it replaced into provided. the two way permit it circulate, the two Trish and Morrison might desire to get on. I propose they made this right into a great remember!

Thank you for giving the credit to God as he did create everything in this world. I think flowers make people happy as the variety in color and textures, sizes and the types.

Beautiful philosophy. I agree. Flowers hold some power over us, possibly because they remind us that no matter how dark the day, there will be more sunshine in the future.

I think it inherent for us to seek the closeness of nature. It is the same reason people keep plants or flowers in their offices. It gives them a sense of being one with nature.
