Sir Alex Ferguson is the finest and the best manager in the current Premiership. But for the sake of the club's future, he should retire in GLORY this season ! A second Treble, maybe....or even just the Premiership title.

Man U has not had a complete and stable squad since they last won in 2002-3 season. A new manager should be able to continue the present success with the current players.

Man U will still be the BEST club in the world with or without Sir Alex ! GLORY GLORY MAN UTD !!!!

Yes, Sir Alex Ferguson has done a tremendous job for Manchester United. There was a time a few years ago when he stated his was going to retire. He was fed up with his job and the game. At the time many managers were mentioned as his replacement, especially Marcello Lippi.

He then got motivated and decided to stay on. I'm hoping he stays for at least 2 more years, so Roy Keane can come in and fill Fergie's position as manager. Roy's contract with Sunderland FC will be completed in two years.

Then again will Roy want to come back and deal with the Glazer family and there tight control?

He accepted the Sunderland position based on no interference from the Board and has been extremely successful.

The press are still rumouring a deal where Keane will come in as manager in two years and Alex Ferguson will stay on in some capacity as a consultant at Manchester United.

Eric Cantona is interested also in the job, but has bad mouthed the Glazers ownership in the past.

It would be great if a former successful Manchester United player ( who played under Sir Fergie) would end up being their manager some day.

Sir Alex Ferguson is featured in the really cool Roy Keane DVD called 'ROY KEANE: AS I SEE IT' available in the U.S., Europe, and United Kingdom.

In my opinion, Sir Alex should without question stay on as Manchester United manager. He is a legendary manager and it's the equivalent to questioning Sir Matt's managerial skills.

I think that the exciting talents of Rooney and Ronaldo has motivated him to stay on and build a new team, so I would not be surprised if he manages United into his 70's.

As a United fan, I have never called for his retirement. Time and time again he has proven he can build a resilient team and he is showing that now.

Eric Cantona once stated that Sir Alex would die on the United bench, he is healthy and can handle stress and it would be freaky if this did actually happen.

Sir Alex still has another season in him!!....hes been a great ambassador to english football and to world football...i reckon there isnt many managers accross the globe that has been in charge of a football team the same length as Fergie.
They are on course to do the treble yet again...i personally think that his no.2 Carlos Quiroz is being primed for the old trafford hot seat when he eventually does retire....
Yours truly
A Sheffield Wednesday supporter.

I have been an avid united fan all my life (and I'm from Manchester which makes a difference) and Fergie has been without doubt the best manager I've ever seen at the club. (although that's probably not hard). However over the last five years I've been screaming for him to retire, especially now Roman's money has arrived. However i was wrong. Although I wouldn't trust him to buy a packet of crisps, the club will take a massive tumble when he goes. just look at what happened after Sir Matt.
So Sir Alex, prove me wrong again... we want our trophy back..

Yes I think Sir Alex Ferguson should remain where he is, for as long as he wishes. He will never do anything to hurt Manchester United, and when he is ready to retire he will do so. And this is to patrick I expect when your Sir Alex`s age, you will also be chewing gum, only difference is, yours will not be from a packet.

Yes. Infact he should have atleast 2 -3 more seasons. The juice is still in him and he still knows the tricks of the game. Remember they said he was a gonner when Chelsea came on the radar but he has shown his resilience and sturbornness.
He knows how to get young players and groom them into great talents admired by anybody accross the globe.

I think he should stay.

OAP or not, he is one of the best Managers and tacticians I will probably see in my lifetime. He is as loyal and committed to Man U as anyone and is still competitive and switched on. Man U , under Fergie are in the running for the Premiership, FA Cup and Champions League and this has driven him to reassess his future and thankfully he has decided he still has things to do at, with and for Man U. He has the respect of many world class players and managers alike and even at his age is still feared. Retire, the word is not in his or my vocabulary when it comes to him and Man U, well at least not yet!!

he is reportedly staying for the next two years. Retirement age does not exist in this country, you can legally work until you want to retire. He is one of the best managers in the world and loves his job so why retire. I am a united fan and although we hated him when he first came to o.trafford we will miss him when he goes. He is the longest serving mgr after sir busby and is part of the fixture and fittings. His age is not affecting his job so leave him where he is!
