I wouldn't recommend including any fish in the tank. Crayfish can be very sneaky and will eventually catch or at least injure most any fish in the tank with them.

Crayfish tend to eat other fish in the tank. I had some when I was a kid and they would eat any fish that was too slow to escape. It was also amusing how often the critters escaped, for some reason they always hid under the sofa 2 rooms away.

Hi Zachary. I would say don't put any fish in with your crayfish. I did this and every time I put fish in my tank, the next morning, the crayfish would be eating my new fish! Also, if you put cichlids (large ones), they will eat your crayfish! Check with your neighborhood fish aquarium to be sure. Good Luck.

I used to catch crawdad's and put them in my tank as a kid. Just about any fish will do (I never had any problems, anyway). Just to be on the safe side though I wouldn't put any bottom feeders (like catfish) in there.

A word of warning though: if the water level is high, they might get out from time to time. You'd be surprised at how much dry ground those guys can cover in one night!

There seems to be a lot of debate concerning this and thought I should clarify my position to give you a better idea of howcome I never had any problems. In my tank I had a couple flat pieces of stone (like slate) propped against the rear of the aquarium. In hindsight they probably scaled that to make their exit, but spent most of their time in the shadowy space behind it. They like dark closed spaces, so they stayed there and the fish had the rest of the tank to themselves!

My tip don't put anything i had goldies once and anthoer time i had mollies and in both times i had a pleco, first it started with a territorail time the pleco and the crawfish would fight over the castle i had for hidding even though i had a ntoher one and the pleco was there for alot longer then the crwfish the crawfish was bent to stay there and the pleco was to and the pleco was no match for that crawfish he was all shredded up after that he attacked and eat every single one of my fish, i would say nothing goes with them unless you want to buy some feeder goldies so that iot won't matter of they die and they'll eat them.

I have mine in with a firebelly newt and an algea eater. My mom had hers in with goldfish. Most crayfish eat dead or dying things, so unless the fish is dead, dying, or VERY slow I think any can go in with them. Also make sure the fish are not really small.

In the wild crayfish eat fish, so in the aquarium they will probably eat ........ FISH!!! You would want to choose something that is fast enough and smart enough to get away from your crayfish.
