Yes, I understand what you guys are all saying. Thanks! But that's the funny part because my insurance representative that i spoke to the other day advised me that the only thing that i have to pay for is the first prenatal appointment with co-pay. (NJ Horizon Blue Cross-Blue Shield) I do not need to pay for any other prenatal appointments, nor ultrasounds. They pay for them. So that's why i was confused with all of this up-front money and it's just strange. But thanks for the information, i guess i'll just wait to talk to the doctor's office to see what's up.

I have blue cross blue shield and all i had to pay was my first co-pay and then the rest of the time they never asked me for anything else.... they still havent and i am 23 weeks.

You should consult your insurance to make sure what is covered and what is not. then make sure your OB is covered by your BC/BS insurance. The information about paying upfront is most likely for people who do not have insurance and will have to pay privatly.

you also have to discus with your OB about where you can deliver where she has access to you or what her policy is about being on call for births.
