I have heard that it is, but I am not really sure why, because don't you still have to ovulate? I understand that may sound like a stupid question, but I am slightly worried that I may be. But at the same time I don't want to jump to conclusions. My new baby boy is 7 weeks, and my husband and I had sex at 3 weeks (I had a c-section) and the condom broke (what luck!!!). Then, we had sex unprotected about 5 days after AF. I am not seeking medical advice, or sarcasm (!) because I am really just curious. Thanks! :)

If a woman breastfeeds then she usually does not ovulate until she weans the baby. But if a women doesn't breastfeed then she will ovulate fairly soon after giving birth--the norm is 45 days after birth but typically no sooner than about 25. Since you are having periods again then yes, you are fertile. I don't think anyone really knows why women are so extrememly fertile after giving birth.

Best wishes if you are. If you aren't you should definately wait. My doctor told me to wait 6 months inbetween pregnancies due to the c-section. Your body needs the time to heal and you could be in high risk for a tear in your uterus.

They didn't tell me in the hospital. I actually got this information from my doctor because I asked him if it was ok to get pregnant again right away. We would have waited only 3 months, but he said, no wait 6 months.

I think they should tell you this when you have a c-section and not just think that you won't have sex.

After our baby was born the doctor came across as kind of anal about what "family planning" we were going to use. When I asked I was told that your body is in pregnancy mode and is ovulating extra and this is why you need to be more careful after having a child. Writing this down sort of sounds silly but I hope it helps.

Good for you having sex so fast after a baby. I don't think it increase chances especially if you are breastfeeding. If your period is normal it is just as likely as regularly. If you don't want to get pregnant though I wouldn't chance it. At 7 weeks I would have been thrilled to find i was having another miracle. For me it took till about 9 weeks to realized i should probably wait.

You're just as likely to get pregnant postpartum (although they say it's less likely if your nursing). Nursing delays ovulation for a while, but not always. Yes, I would check with a pregnancy test. I hope for your sake there are no "Irish twins"!

They say "your body remembers what it's like to be pregnant." In turn, your more "susceptible" to becoming pregnant sooner than in the past. Who knows,......... That's probably just some old wives tale anyway.
