Depends on what your definition of fake is. If fake means that these people were asked by directors to do and say specific things at specific times during specific situations, then the answer is "No, I don't think they're fake". But if by fake you mean that the production staff making it seem like certain things happen to certain people all the time or setting things up so that certain things can happen, then yes, they're fake.
Take MTV's Real World for example; I believe how the people feel about situations and the things that they do are real; but certain things are because of editing or some kind of setup. Part of the reason why it seems like certain people talk to certain other people so much is because production edited the footage so that it looks like that. They also have set activities that they are to do like work or vacations that are settings for various conflicts, romantic situations...etc

Well not fake at all, but always have to have a line to follow the show, the shows have no script or dialogues writen but most of the time the producers try to create the situations so the ones that are into the reality react to that.

Most of them are fake, the producers set up fights and what not off the camera to add to the suspense of the show. Reality is really boring so they must make up stuff to make it interesting

there's very few actual reality shows. like the real world shouldnt be considered a reality show only because they PUT the seven strangers in the house to live together. or even big brother, survivor, amazing race... the people are put in situations which is different from already being in a situation and being filmed.

No, lots of men and women are given 20 beautiful people to choose from and then select their mate by giving them a red rose; or they get sent to a desert island to compete in games or sent around the world with their best buddy/wife/sister/brother, or give offered a job by Donald Trump, or get paired up with a hottie or a nerd, or have a British nanny show up on their doorstep and offer to fix their whole lives....
There is nothing real about reality shows.

They are extremely fake. Reality shows are simply situational comedy/dramas with poor production values.

YES! My friend recently met Ben from the X Factor. Everything the judges say is scripted, even when Simon comes out with his nasty remarks, it's all rehearsed beforehand.
