The UK is a small part of the world. Anyway...figure about 9-11% of the population is gay.

Current estimates are 7% to 11%.

Of course, you would need to define whether you would include just gay men and lesbians in your definition, or also bisexual people who tend toward the same gender more than the other.
And what about people in transition who plan to have sex with the same gender?

As you can see, it's hard to get an exact number.

No. That isn't known, the best that can be hoped for is a reasonable estimate.(somewhere between 7 and 11 percent is the current estimate.)

Because of how society treats them there are a lot of homosexuals that still hide so it's almost impossible to get an accurate count.

Nop, nobody knows. I'm pretty sure they've done a census here in the US and asked about sexual orientation, but even then, the number wouldn't be accurate due to the number of "closeted" gays who wouldn't admit it, even to a piece of paper.

No they don't... all speculation... the spectrum of sexuality btwn straight and gay are infinite... not ALL are 100% either way

Only God, if "he" exists, can/could ever know that number.

There is NO exact way to measure such a number as people who are are not always forthcoming with such information.
