Phone NHS direct now on 08454647 and describe the pain - they will advise you what to do next.
There are many things that the pain could be, some serious, and some not, so it is best that you give NHS direct a call and speak to someone who is qualified to advise you. They will tell you whether to go to your GP or whether you need to go to hospital.

It could also be indigestion or something else thats painful but not life threatening.
It could also be angina which can be a warning sign that will save you from a heart attack.
Then again it could be your worst fear. You are still alive - you might need some stents and a lifestyle change and something to thin your blood and lower cholesterol, but you need to get checked out to find out.
Phone NHS direct but if you have never called them before, do NOT wait until you are in pain. The first person to answer your call asks you for your name and address and symptoms, before transferring you to speak to a nurse who then asks you the same questions all over again. If theres a problem then it takes time you havent got.
If you say 'chest pain, now' they WILL send you an ambulance, but honestly by the time you get to say your piece to a nurse you could have had two more heart attacks just waiting and answering questions.
If you are having an episode then forget NHS direct and go for 999.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Your symptoms aren't typical of a heart attack, but there are many atypical presentations.
What is your family history? Any close relatives die at a relatively early age from a heart attack? Do you know what your cholesterol and other blood lipids are? Do you smoke? You are about 30 pounds over your ideal weight. That's more than "slightly chubby!" (Sorry, but I didn't like the "go to the quacks" remark.)
Obviously everyone wants to rule out serious cardiac disease as a cause of chest pain. But there are many other, more obscure causes ranging from musculo-skeletal pain to stomach ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux, gall bladder disease, cervical spine disease, arthritis-bursitis, inflammation of the chest-lung lining (pleuritis), and others. Finding the cause is often difficult.
You need to find a physician you can trust and have him/her examine you.

I don't for a minute think it's connected to your heart - that tends to be a dull, heavy pain right in the centre of your chest, not sharp and on the side. It's probably muscular and could be caused by tension.
HOWEVER, you should never muck around with stuff like this and should call NHS Direct to get proper advice.

Whether or not you have a theory of what it is, you are obviously in very much pain and need to go get that checked out.
