My girl is 7 months now...at this point she is eating cereal, fruit and veggies three times a day, along with her normal formula sched. All of these are stage "1"...when is ok to move on to the next stage? She does really well with eating. Other than formula, I've given her water a few times to drink, but never juice. When did you move your baby "up"? I'm looking at all the Stage "2" stuff...meats and more fruit/veg choices. Just wondering.

Actually, my 6 1/2 month old eats table food, so basically whenever YOU feel ready to give it to her she'll be just fine. My little girl has diced pears, peaches, cooked carrots, green beans, small bits of shredded chicken and roast beef, and drinks juice from a sippy cup. Your baby will be able to do anything you allow her to try, it takes patience and trial and error. Just follow your gut as to what she can and can't handle. :)

If she is well established then Stage 2 should be fine. We moved up around 7 months(she's 8 months old now) and didnt have any problems. Its a little thicker but not much. We only do juice (2 oz with 2 oz water) once a day to help with her bowel movements and have done that since she was 6 wks old. Other than that she gets formula or water. I wouldnt recommend the desserts. We got some but its just fruit with sugar. It adds like 30 calories per container and I dont want her to start bad habits. She would much rather just have fruit.

Good Luck!

I think it's probably fine to move her up now. The main differences between stage 1 and stage 2 is portion sizes and stage 2 has multiple ingredient foods. I think I started stage 2 around 6 1/2 or 7 months. One thing though, my son's pediatrician said not to start meats until 8 months - not sure why.

My children all got solid food, fruits and juices by the time they were three months old. The doctor was shaking his head but my attitude was, I was raised without babyfood and so were millions of others. My children were never sick, didn't have a cavity until they were grown and not living under my roof anymore and they never had an allergy. I ate everything under the sun, including pounds of peanuts, literally!
I am not advocating you do the same thing, just use common sense and you and the baby will do just fine.

It's probably ok to move her up now if she's taking the stage ones ok. I moved my baby up to stage twos at about the same age your baby is now.
