Yes you can. And they are finding much talent that way. Many arena football players have gotten fine tuned skills and applied them and are ready for the NFL in a few years. Open practices are the ticket. Peace out..........

Absolutely. There are a lot of players that gety into the NFL that were never drafted. A guy I played ball with in High School went to college at a small school and didn't get drafted, but less than a hour after the draft ended he was offered a tryout with the Colts. He made the team, even though he was not drafted. This is really common.

A walk-on? No. Actually, all players are invited to participate in a work out for the team. Vince Papale, for instance, was not a walk-on pro athlete. He played for a couple years in the World Football League for the Philidelphia Bell. He was one of the better players in the league and was also a track star in high school and college. A scout for the Eagles noticed him and convinced Dick Vermiel to view him in a private workout. Dick did, and Papale became an Eagle. They don't allow average people to just come on to the field and try out. You have to send them tape of you playing recently in usually a semi-pro or pro football league. Then after they decide you might be worthy of a private workout they will do so, but that probably rarely happens.

Yes team have open tryouts and now scouts are even scouting players in different sports. Most of the time it will be a P or K. Last year a punter got hired and he was a bartender. WR Jabar Gaffeny wasnt on a team when the Pats signed him. It still happens but not any big names mostly special teams or back ups on the depth chart.

Me, personally? No way. I couldn't even walk on to my high school team.

Seriously, though. It is possible. Technically, everyone is an undrafted free agent, and there are several of them in the NFL.

I heard a story about some delivery truck driver talking coach Jimmy Johnson into a try-out. The truck driver told Jimmy that he had 4.2 speed or something like that. Turned out that the truck driver was slower than he claimed. Jimmy gave him a nice jersey and sent him on his way.
There was a running back who got a try-out when George Allen was the coach of the Redskins. The running back made the team.

yes you can, before training camp teams have open tryouts its just doesn't attract much attention because not many people are walk ons... and some actually turn out to be great players i.e.. Antonio Gates from the chargers, he was a basketball players that wasn't drafted....
and Jesse you are wrong Jabar Gaffney was a receiver drafted by the Texans, he was released, the Pats picked him up, but they had too many players so during training camp he had to "try-out" for a position

Yes you sure can, First your going to need some recent game and highlight film of yourself. if not you better get on one of you local semi pro teams and make a name for yourself. Second your going to need a agent believe it or not you can find one in a phone book. most law offices have lawers that are certified sports agents. from there depending on the time of year you'll wanna go to a few combines, If your numbers a great you should def get a call or look, sometime you have to start at the bottom (indoor football) not arena and work your up and gain expr to make it to the next level. Trust me i know from expr. Good luck man

Gain weight, Get stronger and faster. you have the size to play DE, but you are to slow. you are not strong enough to play tight end..and to slow. you are too tall to play LB and too slow to cover. a bench max of 145..you should be at least benching, 200 pounds, squat at least, 300 clean max, 250...and a 4.8 40, you need a lot of work..
