what is the normal time line that a man asks his girlfriend to marry him i have been with my boyfriend for 4 and a half years and everytime i mention the word marriage he changes the subject. do you think that I have done something wrong or is it just becuase marriage scares him.

It's obvious that he is not considering marriage any time soon. He could just be scared of the committment, but you need to talk to him and NOT let him change the subject.

Every person and every relationship is different. Some people are perfectly fine with just being in a commited relationship and never getting married. Others rush into things to fast sometimes. I guess it depends on alot of things. I would suggest having a serious talk with him on the matter. I don't mean nessicarily about the two of you getting married but marriage in general. Also have either of you been married before? Maybe that is why he is stand offish about the whole marriage thing. Well Good Luck and enjoy what you do have together.

I think this my be something he is scarred of; however, is aware that you want marriage? You need to ask him what his plans for life are, and if they don't include marriage then tell him that you are going to regret it but you have to move own this is going to be painful for you after being with someone for this amount of time give yourself one month for each year that you are with him, so you don't run into the right guy and be on the rebound and hurt him. this happens a lot people get out of a relationship and the first 6 months is usually rebounds and that's not what anyone wants to be in. Been there and seen it. I watch people now and I ask questions before I get to involved. Good Luck.

he sounds scared, some men are afraid that if they get married that the relationship changes, and sometimes it does he's just scared.
