Has anyone gotten pregnant while using the Mirena IUD?

I've had mine for about a year, and LOVE it. I am just curious what happens if you get pregnant while it is in. I know the chances are really slim, but if I got pregnant with my Mirena in, would it hurt the baby?

You have a better chance of getting pregnant with a tubal ligation than with Mirena. Mirena has a failure rate of 0.1% Tubal ligation has a failure rate of 0.5%. Chances are the IUD will be removed within the 1st trimester and a chance of miscarriage is 50/50. Some Dr. wait until the 3rd trimester but thats rare. No birth defects if removed on time

I got pregnant with that IUD in November (two months before it was due to be changed). The doctor said it's not good to keep the IUD in during pregnancy because of the hormones it emits; however, there's a 25% chance of miscarriage with it. I chose to have it removed the day I found out I was pregnant (at five weeks), and things are progressing just fine right now. I've found that women who have gotten pregnant on it are usually close to the end of the five years because the amount of hormones it releases are too low to prevent pregnancy. However, this would not stop me from getting it again after the baby's born.

i only had a baby 18 days in the past and gets the mirena IUD at my 6 wk checkup. the pamphlet i'm staring at now says 8 out of one thousand grow to be pregnant. i wish this works for me, as I actually are becoming to be peggo on the pill and depo shot. stable luck

i'm not sure about the mirena iuc but i was concieved back in the 70's when my mom had a regular ole iud in. what "could" of happened...i could of been born with massive deformities, birth defects, or even stillborn. but i came out in 1 peice and perfectly healthy. so now when mom n dad wanna guilt trip me they call me their lil miracle baby;) GOODLUCK!
