About two weeks ago I put in an application *via intenet* for Winn-Dixie only to find out a week and a half later *when i called to check back* that it hadn't been received. I was instructed to submit a second application and check back again. I did, and checked back today. She said she looked at it and said to do it again and answer the questions carefully and check back on Saturday.
Am I on a freaking wild goose chase trying to get this job?

Hard to missell much when all that is typed is names and numbers *mostly* and the rest of the questionsare "check the aswer" type.
I've been to psychiatrists that didn't ask that many questions, and I'm NOT exagerating.

Persistence pays off in Job hunting.
They want to know that you're responsible, and REALLY want the job.
Fill out the form Completely, then call back every week until you're hired
Luck

I read your story and quite honestly I think the second lady was giving you very good advice. She must have read it and instructed you to submit it again because you may have had misspellings on your application. She said to answer the questions carefully. A lot of misspelled words tells an employer that you did not take the time to correct your mistakes. This can lead to serious problems if they hired you. So I think she was giving you very good advice. I just feel the first time it could have not been received. Remember, your dealing with the Internet. A lot can happen. Down times, etc. You told me she looked at it and said to do it again. This is my feeling why you may have misspelled words. Also, remember what the questions are and think carefully of your answers.

I would fill it out again. And give full and complete info. I work for a background screening company and there is nothing more frustrating than an applicant who can't fill out his/her application completely. If it asks for dates of employment and you don't know, just put years, or month and year. If it asks for date of birth, provide it. It's only used to identify you since your name could be the same as someone else's. If it asks where you went to school, put the ENTIRE name of the school. Put down the cities, states, and counties (if it is asked for) on everything, like employments, educations, and where you previously lived. Use area codes on all phone numbers. Provide AT LEAST the first name of supervisors and last names if you remember them. If the application asks whether you have comitted any kind of crime and you don't answer, they may see that as suspicious. FILL IT OUT COMPLETELY. If you do this and they still tell you to fill it out again, give up. They're disorganized.

Very hard to say ... perhaps they are finding out, in their very odd way, whether or not you can deal with something patiently and follow direction. Dealing with online things can sometimes lead to very unsatisfactory ends. Keep at it just a bit longer and if you are still getting a 'wild goose chase' feeling...you might just communicate with them again and say you are sorry but you are not certain why you seem to be having such difficulty in providing your qualifications to them for the position applied for. Could they please assist you in ensuring that this is done correctly as you are very interested in the position and would like the opportunity to be considered for it along with any other applicants ... see where you get then. Remember, much better results with honey than vinegar...sweet talk 'em, sometimes that does wonders.
Good luck

Two questions come to mind.
How important is this job opportunity to you?
What other options do you have?
If this isn't a good opportunity or you can apply somewhere else, move on. If this is important to you - fix your application.
Best of luck.

No she is giving you an opportunity to fix your mistakes that you made on your original application. If you fix them it will show that you can follow instructions and it will also show how thorough you are.

yes. Move on. Plus, who the heck wants to work for such a disorganized place? What if they did that with your paycheck, too?

If they weren't interested at all, I doubt they would have told you to check back.
