Funny.

As a citizen of a former top 10 Agricultural Economy, and the current No.1 Textile Economy of the world, I can tell you that California will never be able to leave the Union. If the Southern States could not, neither can California. Regardless of what you think the reasons of the American Civil War were, Manifest Destiny, I believe the Yankees called it, was what the war was all about. They were pissed that a revenue source and a provider of cheap natural resources was leaving. It was one of the top 3 costliest wars, in terms of life loss and post-war economic impact.

*sings* "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."

Many must be there, of direction, yet some are serving existence sentences for a third strike that became as trivial as snatching a pizza out of a transport van. the area possibly isn't more advantageous via the reality that the state legislators regularly lack the adventure to totally understand the financial problems. CA additionally has various the main useful term limits interior the rustic, lower back exceeded straight away via electorate.

California only has a GDP of that size because it IS A STATE OF AMERICA!!!!! The other 49 have much to do with the prosperity of CA.

By the way, you people saying " CA doesn't need the US" ....you are idiots, it is part of America and cannot exist otherwise. California will always be one of the 50 states.

Because the majority of its economy comes from the United States... and once it became its own country, it would be subject to the same kind of treatment that Mexico is privy to, and the lucrative hollywood movie industry would quickly dry up when movie studios elsewhere began to get clout-worthy actors.

Furthermore, militarily, California could easily be crushed by any given nation that chose to attack it... and the United States would likely be forced to annex it in the event of war with a significant asian power.

California lives on the backs of many other states... it just happens to be very high population with very huge landmass because it was never properly divided like most other states.

California needs federal funds to survive because the state constantly elects liberal leaders that are inept at managing the state. This was most apparent under Gray Davis and has lessoned slightly under Arnold.

We don't. California essentially supports the rest of the Union.
40% of America's food comes from the San Joaquin Valley.
California is the leader in most industries, including tourism, defense, entertainment, electronics and financial services.
California pays 20% of all income taxes.
We really should secede, let the red-state hicks drown in poverty.

Because the economy is so screwed by liberals, it needs the federal funding. We probably couldn't even give it back to Mexico.
