Best way to learn about movies...
If you can't make the time to enjoy movies (sometimes I watch them during meals or boring homework), you don't have a lot of options. There's imdb.com, which has trivia and quotes from EVERY movie, but it's nothing compared to watching awesome movies like "Pulp Fiction" and "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Movies like that aren't in current movie magazines.

As far as music goes, you can turn on the radio in your car, or go the website of a radio station and listen to their live feed while you work. Magazines: Rolling Stone, the Source, Blender, Billboard.

This way, you can store up some knowledge like a chipmunk, but if you're heart's not in it, it might get pretty boring!

The way I always learned about bands is through magazines and liner notes. Now the best way is Wikipedia. You can read about a band and then follow the links to other bands associated with them. It is a great way to get info. It helps to have a good memory so you don't forget anything you read.
