I can also hear them upstairs above my bedroom & bathroom. Every morning they are chirping and pecking very loudly. I am pretty sure they have built a nest in there!! I don't know who to contact for this problem - is this a roofing problem or what?? Please help! Thanks!!

I had this problem a few years back. You should have a back draft damper istalled in the vents after you get rid of them. It may sound cruel but I used a large shop vac and stood on a ladder to suck them out. Once I got rid of the nest material and all the eggs the birds never came back!

I have the same problem. I have a mobile home & every spring they get in my hood vent. They get loud! Drives my cat up a wall. Best I can come up with is get rid of the nest they're making before they lay eggs & close off the vent til after nesting season. I was able to fit a small piece of screen in my vent opening so they can't get in & I can still use it. As for your upstairs, there's an open place where they're getting in, find it, if you can & close that up as well. Good luck.

Call a pest or bird control in your area. They will come out for a price and live trap the birds. You may consider trying to find out where the birds are coming in and close that off so your problem does not continue.

You need to remove the birds, replace the pipe for sanitary reasons, and install chicken wire around the vent pipe to prevent future infestations.
